I am the biggest and craziest Philadelphia Eagles fan in the world and have been a fan for 59 years. I started collecting Eagles memorabilia back in the late 70's, and I'm still collecting today.
I was in business in Reading,Pa. for 34 years and sold the business 9 years ago. My wife and I were going to retire to Florida. That changed, however, when I decided I wanted to build an addition onto our home that would be a shrine to my beloved Eagles. Much to my surprise, my lovely wife Dawn agreed and let me plan my dream room.
I call it my Philadelphia Eagles Locker Room. It is a 2,000 square foot room that the Eagles Television Network has proclaimed as the most ultimate Eagles Fan Cave in the world! The room consists of 16 flat screen TVs and includes the men's (players) and ladies' (cheerleaders) rooms. The focal point is a 15ft. X 9ft. Hi-Def projection TV that makes you feel like you're in the huddle with the team.
There's a huge deck outside as well as a tent with flat screen TVs for tailgaters. We have anywhere from 75 to 150 family and friends (only Eagles Fans) here for every Eagles game.
There's a 35ft. bar, custom made bleachers, replica lockers (each has a TV), seats from Veterans Stadium, a 30-foot piece of Vet stadium astro turf, Eagles bar stools, Eagles tables and chairs, and an unbelievable collection of Eagles signed memorabilia from all the great Eagles players from yesterday and today.
In the men's and ladies room toilets, I had the Dallas Cowboys logos airbrushed into them.
We don't charge any admission, and we supply all the food, beer, sodas, and bottled water. There is no place to watch an Eagles game such as the Locker Room, and I've had folks who have given up their season tickets to be here because the excitement and electricity is unmatched!
All the major TV networks in the Philadelphia market have been here to do features on myself and the Locker Room! I recently won the Dunkin Donuts Philly's Coolest Sports Fan contest. If you Google that you can check out my winning video to really see more of the Locker Room. The contest had thousands of entrants who were fans of all the Philly sports teams, and I was very honored and humbled to receive all the love and support from so many nice people that voted for me. My video had over 14,000 views in only a two week period for the voting. This old guy couldn't believe it.
The biggest thrill for me, however, came when my 9-year-old granddaughter, Isabella, hugged me and said, "Pop even if you don't win the contest you still are the coolest Sports Fan to me."That's a million bucks to me and what I live for: my family, friends, and my Philadelphia Eagles.
I hope you consider me for the Fan Hall Of Fame.
